Principles andMethod for Choosing Transportation Equity Indexes

Abstract:Research purposes: The study w as done on the principle and m ethod for choosing transportation equ ity
indexes to make establishment of the transportation equ ity indexes more scientific and purposive.
Research conclusions: The transportation equ ity indexes are the main elements in evaluation of the transportation
equ ity, but choice of evaluation indexes are of blindness and randomness at present. By studying, the defin ition of the
transportation equity is offered on the base of capacity - supp ly equity. M eanwh ile, the eight basic principles for
choosing the transportation equity indexes are presented, namely, relativity, clear definition, consistency, correct
incentive, flexib ility, objectivity, practicality and comparab ility. The properw ork ing process and requested information
for choosing the indexes are also given out. From the study on chossing the indexesw ith W ilson entropy model, it is
concluded by follow ing these princip les, requested information and w orking process, the selected indexes can be
exam ined, and the new reasonable indexes can be selected for evaluation of the transportation equ ity evaluation.
