Underw ater sensor netw orks ar e deployed to perform collaborati e tasks such as oceanographic data collection, pollution monitoring, offshore exploration, disaster pre ention, assisted na igation, and tactical sur eillance. Underw ater sensor netw or ks use acoustic signals to communicate w ith each other, thus the propagation delay is large due to the slow acoustic signal propagation speed. U nderw ater acoustic communication channel has limited bandw idth capacity because of the significant frequency and distance dependent attenuation.
