Social development requires the students to possess English language ability. More and more people propose that English education be implemented in the primary schools. However, by analyzing the practical situation of English education in China, to the authors opinion, it is infeasible to comprehensively implement English education in Chinas primary schools.Key words: critical period hypothesis; primary schools; English education; existing condition analysis1 Introduction As China obtained access to the World Trade Organization,Beijing succeeded in hosting the 2008 Olympic Games, and Shanghai gained successful bid for World Exposition, a new upsurge in the study of English is ushered in. In order to adapt to the world multipolarization and economic globalization, many educators propose that English Learning Begins in the Early Childhood. For in tune with the times, in 2001, Ministry of Education issued documents which demanded qualified primary school in both urban and rural areas offer English courses as early as the primary three. Presently, all educational institutions, from kindergarten to university, are enthusiastically advocating English education. To some extent, lowering trend of English learners ages is based on the Critical Period Hypothesis of Second Language Acquisition. The paper is aimed at combining the Critical Period Hypothesis with our country existing English education condition to analyze its infeasibility in China.2 Definition of the Critical Period Hypothesis The Critical Period Hypothesis, introduced by Lenneberg in 1967, states that there is a period when language acquisition can take place naturally and effortlessly, but
