Writings for Your Learning Portfolio Title Good personality flourishing Recently I have finished a famous book called Robinson Crusoe. It was written by Daniel Defoe whose life was full of legends. Daniel had been a hosiery salesman during his young ages and became a successful businessman later, but unfortunately he went bankrupt and accumulated a huge sum of money in debt, which led him to start his writing. And the special experience was properly reflected in his book. The changeable identity was expressed in the life of Robinson. The book told us the story about a man called Robinson who was the youngest son of his family. He was expected to be a lawyer by his father, but he himself wanted to be a sailor. Driven by temptation, he started his adventure with a friend. The first trip was successful in general, but it was very unfortunate for him to be isolated in an island the second time, and from then on, he lived in that desolated island for nearly twenty eight years. It was natural that he was very desperate and lonely when he first arrived in the island with no one to talk and no food to eat. However, supported by his strong desire to survive, he sought shelters, edible things for himself and survived finally. In the meanwhile, the deserted ship really made great contribution to saving his life. He returned to the wreck’s remains twelve times to salvage guns, powder, food and other things which provided a huge help for his later life on the island. For reminding himself of the time, he erected a cross and kept a diary which recorded everyday activities. Admirably, Robinson built a better shelter after being familiar with the surroundings and cultivated many kinds of plants and raised goats, a parrot, which provided him with a more comfortable life. Even though as Robinson said he was a bad artisan who had no talent to make articles, his perseverance helped him lead a good life.
