The research of cultivating and improving writing ability attracts more and more attention. Furthermore, lots of scholars have devoted themselves to probing into the factors that affect the performance of writing through evaluation .Nowadays, essay imitation has become the most popular way to cultivate and improve writing ability among English learnersespeciallyamongprimarylearners.Thepaperistoinvestigatethesituationofthe Englishwriting imitationofGrade 8studentsinXinZhouNo. 6Middle Schoolto study andsummarizetheevaluationcriteria，analyzethereasonandproposerelevantmeasures. The results of the study are as follows:(1)The majority of Grade 8 students have imitated the model essay, and they usually recite model essay or passage in the text or rememberconnectivewordsandimitatetowriteinwritingexerciseandexamination；(2) theteachersmainlyjudge ifthere isimitationinwritingbythe structureofpassages and sentence structure (3)the teachers think writing ability reflect the English critical ； thinkingabilityandmainlyembodiedinthedevelopmentofthediscourse,collocationof words, sentence structures and grounds of the argument, all of which aspects are the evaluationcriteria.
