Witz Department of MechanicalEngineering,UniversityCollegeLondon, Torrington Place, London WC1E 7JE, UK (Received20 October 1994;revised 19August 1995;accepted29 August 1995) ABSTRACT This paper presents a case study in the structural analysis of a non-bonded flexible riser crass-section. This study was initiated by the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress (ISSC), Committee VT-Slender Marine Structures and is briefly described in the 1994 report presented in St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. The paper provides full documentation of the case study..Analytical results were provided by 10 different institutions for a Coflexip flexible riser design. These results are compared with available experimental data. Despite the complexity of theflexible riser cross-section, the various methods used by the participants broadly agree with the experimental datafor the axial-torsional structural response provided that layer interaction was taken into account in the
