Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of high-and low-intensity exercise on renal function. Methods 200 healthy soldiers participated in this study were randomly allocated to two groups, 100 in each group. The high-intensity exercise group ran 3000-metre running across the country, and the low-intensity exercise group walked 3000 metres. Before exercise test, the urine samples were collected and analyzed. The blood samples were collected for examining the indexes of creatinine, urea nitrogen. 2 hours after the exercises, the mentioned above laboratory tests were performed including recording the urine volume. Results Before exercise test, the urine analysis results for these two groups presented normal. After exercise, the urine volume in the high-intensity group were significantly lower, compared to the low-intensity group (Plt;0.01). And after exercise in the high-intensity group, the positive rates of proteinuria and hematuria were significantly higher, compared to the low-intensity group (Plt;0.01). But before and after exercise, the blood creatinine and urea nitrogen levels were almost the same (Pgt;0.05). Conclusion After high-intensity exercise, the participants’ urine volume decreased, and nematuria and proteinuria occurred in most of the participants indicated that high-intensity exercise might injure the renal function, and low-intensity exercise (walking) may be harmless to the kidney. Patients with chronic kidney disease are unfitable to do high-intensity exercise and be suitalbe for low-intensi
