In this work, the performance of intake system, for both directed and helical port, is carried out based on a mean flow consideration . A quasi-steady emptying- . filling method has been used in the present analysis to estimate the instantaneous mass flow rate for evaluation of intake swirl. The model validation for both directed and helical ports is carried out using available experimental data in literature . A detailed parametric study has been presented to highlight the role of such an analysis in intake port design and evaluation for required air motion characteristics.
