Abstract: Diff erent sit e micr ost ruct ure and mechanical propert ies of aluminum- silicon alloy in dif f eren-
t ial pressure casting process w ere invest igat ed. T he g at e sy st em w as adopt ed vert ical slit t ing gat e sys-
t em. In t he invest igat ion at t he inner- gat e sit e o f the cast ing s the g rain is finer , the densit y is higher
and t he mechanical pro pert ies is best than t hat o f at the coo ling site of castings no matt er w ith SiO2
sand m ould, SiC sand mould or chill. H ow ever, t he g rain size, densit y and m echanical propert ies of
cast ings betw een inner- gat e sit e and coo ling site are m inimum. T he analysis results reveal t hat solidif-i
cation pressur e has sit e ef fect iveness during pro ducing alum inum alloy cast ing s by using vertical slit-
