Generation and packing of three-dimensional random polyhedron aggregate

Abstract:An efficient technology for a random three-dimensional aggregate generation and packing is
presented, in w hich a polyhedron is created by extending an arbitrary fundamental triangular and re-
garded as a aggregate after passing through convex control and sharpness judgment, and a number of
random aggregates are generated circularly by this method in accordance w ith an actual grading curve.
Then the grading aggregates are randomly put in a given packing region one by one equiprobably, and
overlapping betw een nearby aggregates is avoided by the help of Boolean partition operation in
ANSYS, so that a random three-dimensional geometrical model of polyhedron particular composites
with a given gradation can be successfully established.Finally, tw o examples are given.This technol-
ogy is very efficient and applicable for geometrically modeling concrete and asphalt mixture w ith high
content of grading aggregates.
