Mark Twain is known to most Americans as the author of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its sequel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Huck’s simple and pleasant journey through his boyhood which seems eternal, and Tom Sawyer’s free and enjoyable roam of the country full of adventures in one summer which seems to be lasting forever, are vividly portrayed for all readers. one who grew cynical … a black wall of night. One who sees little or no good in anything, … and who is continually distressed by the moral weaknesses of the human race. Mark Twain ranged … as lecturer and writer. Mark Twain travelled across the whole country, trying to make a good understanding of what happened in the new country which he shared with the world in his lectures and writings. The cast of characters …. a cosmos. His work on the Mississippi River made it possible for Twain to meet people of all sorts. It is a world of all types of characters. He participated …. waterside slums. He was greatly involved in this life (had all kinds of experience there), listening to the gossip in the pilothouse about ….. All would resurface … phonographic. All would reappear / be reproduced in his books, written in the colorful language that he seemed to be able to remember and record as accurately as a phonograph. Steamboat decks …. thugs as well.
