He was driven out of his home by his sister-in-low. Then he lived by farming with an old cow. One day, the magical cow kindly told him a way to find a fairy as his wife. This evening , seven fairies left heaven to bathe. Niulang took one of the beautiful silk dresses and the owner was left alone. Then Niulang came out with the dress and asked the her , Zhinv, to stay with him. The kind Zhinv fell in love with him and married him secretly. Niulang farmed in the field and the Zhinv wove at home. They lived a happy life and had a son and a daughter. Unfortunately, the fact was found out and the Queen Mother went to bring Zhinv back. With the help of the magical cow,Niu Lang flew to heaven with his son and daughter. But, the Queen Mother took off one of her gold hairpin to made a river to stop Niulang. So they were separated by the Milky Way forever. Their love touched magpies and thousands of magpies came to build a bridge for them to meet each other. The Queen Mother was eventualy moved and allowed them to meet each year on the 7th lunar month.
