Generally speaking, the minimum Initial Margin (amount required to open a new position) requirement is 5% of gross principal value of the contract*, the minimum Maintenance Margin (amount required to maintain an open position) requirement is 3% of gross principal value of the contract* and the minimum Liquidation Margin (amount below which all open positions will be liquidated) is 2% of gross principal value of the contract*.
