Discussion on the University#39;s general education practice in a misunderstanding Abstract General Education from the ancient Greek concept of liberal education. First, the basic concepts of general education Is generally believed that “general education” origins can be traced back to ancient Greece, the “free education.” This “liberal education” originally refers to a small number of people able to enjoy free education, it is not concerned about the practical purpose, focusing on cultivating the mind, the pursuit of the harmonious development of body and mind; content, which includes “Seven Arts”, grammar, rhetoric, dialectics, arithmetic, astronomy, geometry and music subjects. “Free education” philosophy and curriculum had a significant impact, the West has been continued this tradition.
