It is a moral fable of love and responsibility. It is also a literature work which has a special status in the European literary palace in 20th century. The book tells a story about a prince from a very small planet. The story is philosophical and includes societal criticism, remarking on the strangeness of the adult world. The author use a lot of symbols in his book to tell us about the meaning of life and lots of philosophical connotation, And by the literary genre fairy tale and the writing style reflects the various symbols, so the symbolic pass through the whole work. It’s the most important reason that this work is so charming. Key words: poetic tale, symbolic meaning, fairytale Ⅰ. Introduction 1.1 Brief Introduction of the Author The little prince is written by Antoine de Saint Exupery, a French pilot and writer. He was born in France, in 1900.From 1921 to 1923, he used to be a pilot in French Air Force. After he left the army, he had taken up different kinds of jobs. In 1939, he took part in the war to resist Germany, and the next year he was exiled to America. Until 1943, he went back to French Northern Africa Air Base. In 1944, he died when he was performing a assignment. His best-known writing is The Little Prince, and the amount of its readers just next to Bible in the West.
