Bill Maze, Ms. Essence Webb, Ms. Leanna Pierson Staff Present: Mr. Andrew Signey, Ms. Karen Strickland, Ms. Jennifer Walter Introductions Ms. Reynolds-Harris and Mr. Pearson welcomed the members to the meeting and thanked Ms. Berger and the Chancellor’s office for hosting the meeting and lunch. The committee members introduced themselves. Recap of Last Meeting Ms.Walter provided an overview of the last meeting and walked members through the packet of materials. Invite Additional Members The committee members brainstormed who should be invited to future meetings and identified the following groups that are not represented on the committee: *Probation *Parent Partners *California Mental Health Director’s Association *Tribal Representatives *CalWorks CDCR United Advocates for Children and Families The committee discussed the need to invite additional people and yet to keep the size of the committee manageable for purposes of accomplishing the committee charge. Therefore, the committee decided to prioritize invitations to the groups asterisked above. Work Plan and Timeline Discussion Ms. Reynolds-Harris and Mr. Pearson reviewed the draft work plan, timetable, and invited discussion on the utility of the work plan template. The work plan is due to the full Child Welfare Council on September 1, 2008, and will be used to prepare the report to the Legislature.
