Investigating how the concept of a “situation” can be represented and reasoned about within the Belief Desire Intention (BDI) model of agency. This work requires research skills and a good understanding of the BDI model of agency. Industry partner - the Bureau of Meteorology. ? Collaborating with a group from the University of Autonoma (Spain) on developing a methodology for building electronic institutions. E-institutions provide a means for various agents (web services) to meet and interact following a defined set of interaction rules. ? Collaborating with a group from SRI International (USA) on reasoning about goals and plans. ? Investigating the design of open agent organizations which is collaborative work with the University of Utrecht (Nederlands). ? Co-supervising two students – A PhD student on reasoning about proactive goals in Intelligent systems and a Masters by research student on developing a Unit-Testing framework for BDI agents. ? Co-lectured a seminar style post-graduate subject – Intelligent Agents and agent systems. ? Managing the continuing development of a commercial quality agent design tool (called PDT), that supports Prometheus (a complete intelligent agent design methodology). This work requires complete and sound software engineering skills as well as a good knowledge of Eclipse, Java, CVS, Prometheus (the design methodology) and JACK (a state of the art implementation platform for intelligent agents).
