A study of Elizabeth’s rebellious spirit in Pride and Prejudice Abstract During the early 19th century Britain, women’s status was low in the patriarchy. Meanwhile, Women’s Liberation Movement has lasted for more than 200 years. Pride and Prejudice was created during the first wave of the movement. Elizabeth Bennet, the main female protagonist in Pride and Prejudice, is a representative character who struggles against society. Her rebellious spirit will be demonstrated from three aspects in this essay: her courage of anti-feudal virtues—the so-called traditional virtues of women should be changed; her distinctive view on marriage—love is the basis for a happy union; Elizabeth’s self-consciousness—all men are created equal. However, during that period, the awareness of feminine consciousness is still in the bud which needs to be developed further. Therefore, Elizabeth’s rebellious spirit is not thorough. Nevertheless, her spirit has shown a new trend that women will win their deserved rights in the near future. Key words: rebellious spirit; anti-feudal; view on marriage; self-consciousness 摘要 19世纪早期的英国正处于父权制的统治之下，因而当时妇女地位非常低下。与此同时，女权运动已经持续了200多年。《傲慢与偏见》在这场运动的第一股浪潮中应运而生，书中的女主角伊丽莎白即是反抗社会的代表。本文拟从三方面证明伊丽莎白的反抗精神：伊丽莎白反封建的勇气—所谓的传统美德是可改变的；伊丽莎白的婚姻观—爱情是婚姻的基础；伊丽莎白的自我意识—人人生而平等。然而，那个时代的女权意识还处在萌芽之中，有待进一步发展。因此，伊丽莎白的反抗精神并不彻底。尽管如此，她的精神已经预示了一种新的趋向：女性会在不久的将来得到她们应有的权力。关键词：反抗精神；反封建；婚姻观；自我意识 Contents Ⅰ.
