Last but not least, big thanks to my boyfriend who has shared with my worries, frustrations, and hopefully my ultimate happiness in eventually finishing this project. 论文中文摘要 本课题旨在研究通过更好的扩大学生有关文学和历史方面的背景知识，来降低在阅读中过多的依赖老师而很少有自己的想法。作者在教学中发现的问题之一是：由于许多文学和历史方面的事件都已经远离了我们的生活，所以大部分同学对文学和历史都感觉很无聊，甚至一点也不感兴趣。这严重影响了学生学习文学和历史的积极性。作者在本科学实验中，通过苏格拉底对话及原因分析等科学手段对上诉问题进行分析后，发现问题的主要原因是由于自己在以往设计的阅读练习活动中过多的采用传统的教学模式，而要求学生遇到困难就查字典或者学生还不明白就由老师直接翻译等，而忽略了应该在阅读中不断的扩大学生的背景知识，从而提高学生阅读文学和历史的兴趣和能力。 经过为期四周的教学实验，通过课堂观察，实验前后各组数据分析以及实验后的问卷调查，课堂实施丰富有关文学和历史方面的背景知识，它的有效性得到了充分的证明，它在较大程度上提高了学生独立阅读的能力并提高了他们对英语文学和历史学习的兴趣和信心。 本教学实验的成功对推动大中专英语阅读教学改革，探索出一套有效提高我国学生学习文学和历史的能力，进而提升学生对文学和历史的认识起到了积极的作用。 本课题旨在研究通过更好地设计阅读活动来提高学生独立学习英语文学和历史的能力。 Abstract This paper presents a detailed report of the research implemented to solve the problem that although most of my students have learned English for many years, they always seemed uninterested in English Literature and history. In this experiment, the author used Socratic Dialogue, Cause analysis, etc. discovered the main cause of the problem is for a long period, students just thought highly of teachers translation, but seldom did with their own ideas. The problem is clearly identified. Literature and history more difficult than other types of articles and limited background knowledge make them heavily depended on teachers ideas.
