Book report 外国语学院2010级5班 刘亚丽 1004020532 I read a classic tale of equal appeal to children and adults, which is called The Little Prince. It was first published in 1995 by Wordsworth Editions Limited 8B East Street, Ware, Hertfordshire SG 12 9ET. Besides, it was written by Antoine De Saint-exupery and translated by Irene Testot-Ferry. As for the origin edition, it was first published in 1943, the year before the French author’s death in action, this new translation contains Sanit-Exupery’s delightful illustrations. I found the book by chance in the school’s library .At the sight of the cover and the title ,I decided to read it for I had read part of the story before and I think it is worth reading one more time .As the author’s saying goes, “On one level it is the story of an airman’s discovery in the desert of a small boy from another planet—The Little Prince of the title—and his stories of intergalactic travel, while on the other hand it is a thought-provoking allegory of the human condition.” As far as The Little Prince is concerned, I would like to say something .First and foremost, the love between the little prince and his rose. The rose, just like lady, is vain and very proud. Therefore, though “She choose her colors with great care. She dressed slowly, carefully arranging her petals one by one.” to “Appear in the full glory of her beauty”, she pretended to be only half awake and replied gently , “ I was born at the same time as the sun…”. Many ladies, one day, careful dressed to show her beauty to her beloved gentleman, anything wrong? Of course not. Thus there is no need pretending and just be yourself. Besides, when the little prince decided to travel, the rose managed not to cry but said, “You have decided to leave, so leave.” It is just like the lady who told a man “I hate you”, but the truth is “I love you”.
