Definition of Performance Management Performance management systems are processes used to identify, measure, evaluate, improve and reward employee performance. 绩效管理:评估主体对照工作目标或绩效标准,采用科学的考评方法,评定员工的工作任务完成情况、工作职责履行程度和员工的发展情况,并且将评定结果反馈给员工的过程。 Purpose of Performance ManagementThree kinds of purposes for aperformance management system: Strategic: When the performance management system links employees’ behavior with the organization’s goals; Administrative: When it is used to make administrative decisions regarding salary, promotions, retention, termination and layoff. Development: When it serves as a basis for improving employees’ knowledge and skills; Performance Appraisal Process A complete performance system includes three parts: Defining performance(确定绩效的相关方面):it specifies what aspects of performance are relevant to the organization, primarily through job analysis; Measuring performance(绩效评估): it measures how well employees perform their jobs when compared to a set of standards; Giving performance feedback(提供绩效反馈): the information gathered from the former two steps must be communicated to employees. Performance Appraisal Process 绩效评估程序 Performance Management Criteria Several criteria used for assessing performances: Fit(适用性) : they should support the company’s strategy, goals and culture; Validity(效度) : they should address all the relevant aspects of job performance, but no others; Reliability:(信度) : they should provide consistent results independent of time or who does the assessment; Performance Management Criteria Acceptability(可接受性) : the people being assessed should consider the measurements to be fair and worthwhile; Specificity(具体性): the
