New words and innovative expressions enter English with new things and new concepts which are being either discovered or invented with each passing day. It seems easy for people to understand, but it is hard for people to accept that a meaning may change and a sense may shift. Semantic change plays a very important role in widening the vocabulary of a language. It makes the existing words multi-semantic, that is, we always have to give so many new concepts to an old formation that the meaning of a formation is multiplied. Though change in meaning is an ongoing process and pervasive, we could still find some rules in semantic change. There are many kinds of semantic changes. There are both linguistic forces and extra-linguistic forces behind semantic change. This thesis briefly focuses on the word meaning change, which is regarded as a nexus or transition between the origin of English and future of develop. Change is a process of progress and complex. It is obvious that the gradual change of meaning in words is a common feature of human language.
