The Romance of Words 1. The organization of the text. 2. The important words . 3. The important sentences. Organization of the Text Part1 (1-2) :The introduction of the text. Part2(3-20):The body of the essay . Part3(21):The conclusion of the text. Part1 (1-2): The writers put forward his argument directly—“From now on we want you to look at words intently, to be inordinately curious about them and to examine them syllable by syllable, letter by letter.” Part2(3-20):This part consists of three parts, in which the writers develops his argument by employing analogies, citing examples, illustrations, giving personal opinions. A: Para.(3-11): The author uses examples to show that the root of a word is the story of its origin. The root of a word refers to the origin of the word. B: Para.(12-15): The author gives examples to clarify that the branches of our language tree are those many groups of words that have grown out from one original root. C: Para.(16-19): cite examples to state the leaves of the language tree would be the words themselves and their meanings. Part3(21): In the last paragraph the authors echoed the introduction through the sentence: “From this time on, as we enter our word studies, try to become self-conscious about words.” Such an echo strength the coherence and integrity of the essay.
