Rosa Louise McCauley Parks Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) was an African-American civil rights activist, whom the U.S. Congress called the first lady of civil rights, and the mother of the freedom movement”. What is known to all of us is that Parks refused to obey bus driver James F. Blakes order that she give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery Alabama. The author: Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr.(1929-1968), a key leader of the movement, played a significant and irreplaceable role in the Civil Rights movement in 1960s.His famous speech “I Have a Dream” was delivered in front of the Lincoln Memorial. He was awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
