The Application of Metacognitive Strategy to Promoting Students’ Learning Autonomy 如何利用元认知策略提高学生的学习自主性 摘要: 自20世纪70年代Flavell提出元认知概念以来,元认知和外语学习的关系受到了广泛的关注。元认知是有关认知的认知, 是个体对于自身认知历程的觉察和控制,包括元认知知识,元认知策略两个方面。元认知伴随各种学习任务,理解和控制认知过程是外语教师可帮助学习者培养的关键技能。而现代英语教育的目标在于培养自主性学习者和问题解决者。在提高学习者学习自主性的众多方法中,对学习者的策略训练是关键。元认知能力的培养在语言教学中成为策略研究的一部分。目前的大学英语学习者在元认知知识方面存在否定、模糊及矛盾的态度并缺乏对元认知策略的恰当应用。对元认知策略和技能是通向自主学习的一个桥梁,是培养学习者自主性的关键的认识不充分。本文探讨了元认知策略、自主学习的涵义及二者之间的联系,分析了元认知策略对学生英语自主学习能力的影响并在综述与吸收以往此研究领域所取得的研究理论基础之上,提出了利用元认知策略提高学生自主学习能力的相关策略,旨在培养学生英语自主学习能力,促进学生成为成功的英语学习者。 关键词: 元认知;元认知策略;自主学习 The Study of Using Metacognitive Strategy to Enhance Students’ Learning Autonomy Abstract: Metacognition was first brought up by J. H. Flavell in the 1970s. Since then people began to pay their attention to the relationship between metacognition and foreign language learning. Metacognition is defined as cognition about cognition, or knowing about knowing. It runs through the whole procedure of learning and is the key to developing and training students’ learner autonomy. Nowadays the training of metacognition has become a part of strategy study on language teaching. However, many language learners are still holding negative, vague or contradictive attitude to metacognition and lack adequate application of metacognitive strategy, which seriously affect their English achievements. This paper reviews the connotation of metacognitive strategy and learner autonomy, analyses the relationship between them and proposes corresponding metacognitive strategy to enhance students’ learner autonomy in foreign language learning. This paper implies that students can learn foreign language autonomously by using metacognitive strategies and methods which help students learn foreign language better.
