The only way of returning to base clearance is to install a new plug. If it is necessary to add more clearance than the amount that is added by turning the plug, a volume bottle can be attached to the same flange that the plug was mounted on. A popular way of adding clearance is by using a Variable Volume Clearance Pocket, or, VVCP. The VVCP consists of an outer head with a bore in it, a piston and rod assembly that moves within and a jamnut to hold the piston in place. In this graphic, the VVCP is at base clearance. By loosening the jamnut and turning the rod counterclockwise, the VVCP can easily be adjusted to add a little clearance... 不可在设备运转时调节VVCP!!! ..or a lot of clearance. By turning the piston and rod clockwise, the clearance can be returned to base. Warning! The VVCP should never be adjusted while the unit is in operation. The machine should be shut down and be depressurized before attempting an adjustment. If the VVCP is adjusted while the unit is in operation, cyclic loading on the piston could cause the threads to chatter leading to breakage and the piston and rod assembly could become a projectile causing bodily harm or death. Another way of adding clearance is with an air operated fixed volume clearance pocket. This is a cavity in the outer head that is closed off to the cylinder bore until the actuator lifts the plunger away from the seat. When the plunger is away from the seat, the fixed volume within the head is exposed to the cylinder bore thus adding clearance. There are three major components in the compressor frame that give us the desired motion and transfer horsepower. The first component is the crankshaft.
