Energiewende goes China! German industry applies German energy solutions in China China aims to diversify its energy mix with renewable energy as well as to increase energy efficiency in order to reduce the energy consumption per unit GDP and improve the sustainability and stability of the energy supply. This development offers opportunities for German project developers and service providers within the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies to gain a foothold in China. Due to the Energiewende concept Germany is seen as a key partner in regard to energy efficiency solutions and German industry and services are recognized for high-tech and high quality. While worldwide there is an increasing trend for products to be sold within solutions, being integrated early within the efficiency process is becoming ever more important for production companies. Many barriers and lack of transparency in China though make it quite difficult to implement high quality energy solutions. Also many German production companies lack the overview over their own energy consumption patterns in China and about the energy efficiency market offerings, as reliable information is still hard to come by and experienced local energy management staff quite limited. Against this background German Industry and Commerce Greater China (AHK) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (giz) jointly developed a project initiative with the title “Energiewende goes China!”.
