The writer is also closed to death, because of his dangerous job-----a “seal”. Then he swore that he would do whatever he could do in his training to decrease the possibility of death in all kinds of missions, because he is also a person who is in fear of death. I think his saying “Everyone is afraid of death.” is true. Because so far, I haven’t met a person who doesn’t fell scared when talks about death. Is death really so terrible? I think the answer to this question is yes. But the writer’s made me feel the answer to this question was wrong. Once he was performing a task, his team was asked to save an important person. When they almost finished the mission, an accident happened, one of them must died to make them get out of there. Just at that moment, a soldier chose to sacrifice his own and finally make others survive. What’s more? Once when I thought our ancestors who fought against the Japanese, I was not sure with this answer. Although they always could meet workmates’ deaths. And some of them know they would die if they did something or stayed at somewhere will die, they still did that. Then I was wondering, why they didn’t scare of death at that time. I didn’t know the answer until I read this book. Because they had their believes, they knew their deaths were good for China, so they did it and died without pain but happiness. So what makes us change our minds now? Believes, I think. We have lost our believes with time passing by. That means if we can find our believes back, we won’t be afraid of death anymore.
