Their func tions are also discussed. Taking a chemical wastewater treating engineering as an example, the parameters, de sign method, character of process are introduced in detail. When the exterior circulation UASB reactor was started up about one month at 30~ 35 , inoculated digested sludge from sewage farm, 1~ 2 mm granular sludge is formed in the sludge field, the removal rate of COD is above 90% and methane bubbles ( D 510- 3 cm ) are separated out. So the design is feasible.
