T he spark dis- char ge at omic emission spect rom et ric analysis w hich is co nvenient and quick , is also w idely u sed in chem-i cal composit ion analysis f or m et allurgical product s . H o wever, becau se o f no n- chilling str ucture, duct ile -i r on can not be direct ly analyzed by any spectr omet ry m et hods. T hroug h quenching t reatm ent , t he surf ace of duct ile iro n is changed t o half- chilling and compact str ucture and t hu s can be analy zed by spect ro metric methods . T he sample surf aces aft er being sparked hav e norm al black halo around t he sparked spot , so that tr ue results can be obt ained. T he relat iv e st andard deviat io n f or silicon , phosphor ous , m anganese, magne- sium is 0. 39% , 2. 5% , 01 83% , 101 0% , respect ively.
