It refers a dy namic process of the grow ing proportion of old persons accounting to some percentage of population. ? From the census results in 2000, the population aged 60 and above in China occupied 10. 3% of the tot al population, aged 65 and above is 6. 6% . ? This means that 2000 is not only t he beginning of the new century but the start ing point of our aging society. On the one hand aging societ y indicates Chinese economic grow th, social stabilit y and medical advances, on the other hand it also brought enormous pressures and challenges in t he further development of China! s society . ? So w e must change our conception and have a correct understanding of aging societ y, accelerate t he development speed of economics, and carry out a act ively aging strategies that give the elders a sense of securit y and usefulness.
