The Viscaceae includes 2 genera and 5 speceise. Besides Korthalsella japonica (Thunb.) Engler. is dwarf mistletoes with reduced scale leaves, other 4 species with long internodes are Viscum articulate, V. angulata, V. alniformosanae and V. multinerve. The first two species have only reduced scale leaves and the last two species have flabellately multi-nerved photosynthetic leaves. The Loranthaceae includes 2 genera, 13 species and 2 varieties. Loranthus has the obvious characters of raceme or spike inflorescences and regular flowers. Most L. delavayi are with unisexual flowers. L. kaoi with bisexual flowers usually hyper parasitizes on other mistletoes. The inflorescence of other Loranthaceae plants is a 3-5-flowered umbel. The zygomorphic flowers open with 4-5 recurved lobes from the top of corolla tube. Ellipsoid or ovoid berries are major characteristics of Taxillus. Most determined as Scurrula species in the past were double checked for their fruit shape whether belong to obovoid., club-like and stipitate. Due to none characters found like the above, I assumed that there is no Scurrula species in Taiwan. Although S. parasitica, the holotype of this genus, distributed on south China, it did not occur in Taiwan. To distinguish he Taxillus ritozanensis and T. theifer, the length of anthers is 3-5mm for T. ritozanensis and 2-3.5mm for T. theifer. The only species parasitizing on gymnosperms is T. matsudai with narrowly spatulate leaves and purplish red berries.
