Abstract:Under the elaborate survey of recent development of the seawater salinity measurement tech
nology,we systematically proposed a measurement principle, based on differential refractiveindex and
PSD (Position Sensitive Device), and built a mathematical model, designed the structure of sensing
probe,produced a prototype.Onthe basisof numerous experimental data,we determinedthe salinity cal
ibration curve, thesystem stability and interfering factorswere also measured. xperimental results indi
cate thesalinity resolutionof 1. 67 and stability error better than ! 1. 25 , errors caused by tempera
ture andPerturbation are 0. 038 / ∀ and ! 2. 58 .The results also showed the feasibility of system
principle and structural design.Then, errors which could affect the system performance were discussed
and analyzedin detail,
