1995 Computer Science Department MQP Review Rob ert E. Kinicki Craig E. Wills Computer Science Department Worcester Polytechnic Institute Worcester, MA 01609 WPI-CS-TR-95-01 August 1, 1995 Abstract This rep ort presents results of a p eer review of MQPs conducted within the Computer Science Department during the Summer of 1995 as part of a campus-wide MQP review. The goal of the rep ort is to assess whether the department MQPs are accomplishing their educational goals. The rep ort identies problems that need to b e addressed and trends that need to b e continued to make the MQPs a worthwhile learning exp erience. It re ects data and evaluations for 27 MQPs, involving 43 computer science students, that were completed b etween the Summer of 1994 and the Spring of 1995. The rep ort also makes comparisons to similar reviews done in 1991 and 1993. Overall, the large ma jority of the pro jects are meeting the educational goals of the department as go o d learning exp eriences. The reviews indicate the overall quality of the pro jects is go o d, ab out the same as in 1993 and a little b etter than 1991. The rep ort draws a numb er of conclusions ab out the success of the pro jects based up on the data collected and evaluations done for this review.
