It u sed an array of optical fiber sensors to ident ify the locat ion o fA E sources in so lids. The system possesses the advantages o f low-cos,t a w ide range of applicat ions, and h igh sensit iv ity. T he sensor array w as structured of Sagnac interferom eters, each u sing a po int sensor. P rinc ip les o f the optica l fiber ring Sagnac interferom eter used to detect u ltrasonic w aves and locate the source w ere rev iew ed. T hese opt ical f iber sensors w ere p laced on segm ents of a steel p late to structure the sensor array. S mi u lated acou stic em issions w ere generated at variou s positions on the stee l plate. The data acqu isition c ircuit w as based on sing le ch ip. It co llected signals from four senso rs and sent them to a com puter. T he com puter processed the four signa ls using an algorithm w ritten in V isual Basic language. It ca lculated the position of each source from t mi e d ifferences bew
