An Analysis of Scarlett’s Character Abstract:Gone with the Wind is the classic of American female writer Margaret Mitchell. The novel mainly describes the life of Scarlett, who is the daughter of Tara’s master during the American Civil War. The novel shows a wide, prosperous picture of the Social life of the south in America. Among all the characters, Scarlett, is the most successful one. This paper will examine the rebellious, brave, and unyielding aspects of the merits and the blind, selfish, speculative aspects of the defects in her character, which shows the extreme complexity of her personality. Apart from the analysis of the complex character of the heroine, this paper will also explore the formation of her unique character from the perspective of family, society, history, and concepts of value in the hope of deepening the understanding of the work.
