Lesson 21, Unit 4, Fun with English, Book 9 1. Opening Remarks Good morning，ladies and gentlemen. My name is Yang Wenying. I’m so glad to be here and share my teaching methods with all of you. Today my teaching material is Lesson 21,Unit 4, which is from Fun With English, Book 9. I’ll report how to prepare this lesson. 2. Analysis of Teaching Material 2.1 The position: This lesson is very important in this unit because from this lesson, the students learn to choose the proper activities according to the different weather. In Unit 4, there are 6 lessons. Lesson 21 is the third lesson of the unit. In Lesson 20, the students have learned the drills “What’s the weather like today? It’s …”, which have laid foundation for the new lesson. The students can get this kind of knowledge very easily. In Lesson 20, the students have learned the new adjectives about the weather. And these words can be greatly used to practice the conversations in Lesson 21. So from this knowledge, the students can go on fostering their ability to communicate. This lesson is a dialogue about the weather and the activities, which are related to daily life. So it’s helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English. 2.2 Analysis of the students It’s known to us that the kids in Grade 5 are very active with the characteristics of lively and liking interesting activities. Their interests begin to transfer from classroom games to English task-based activities. Their learning objects are more clearly, especially the usage of the language in life situation. 2.3 The teaching aims: It’s divided into 3 parts: knowledge aims, ability aims and moral education aims. First, Students can master some new phrases: go hiking, fly a kite, climb mountains and play chess by software presentation and communicative dialogues. They can grasp the new drill “It’s cool today.
