    Abstract:Resultsarereportedhereofarathersuccessfulattemptatprovingalltheorems,totallingnear

    400,ofPrincipiaMafhematicawhicharestrictlyintherealmoflogic,viz.,therestrictedpredicatecal-

    culuswithequality.Anumberofotherproblemsofthesametypearediscussed.Itissuggestedthatthe

    timeisripeforanewbranchofappliedlogicwhichmaybecalledinferentialanalysis,whichtreats

    proofsasnumericalanalysisdoescalculations.Thisdisciplineseemscapable,inthenottooremotefuture,

    ofleadingtomachineproofsofdifficultnewtheorems.Aneasierpreparatorytaskistousemachinesto

    formalizeproofsofknowntheorems.Thislineofworkmayalsoleadtomechanicalchecksofnewmathe-

    maticalresultscomparabletothedebuggingofaprogram.
