    Mr.W.E.DennispassedfromthislifeonJune6,1924,andtheworldofprofessionalpenmenmournsthe

    passingofamaster.Mr.DenniswasborninManchester,N.H.,in1860.

    Hisinterestinpenmanshipstartedatoffifteenandhepracticedindustriouslyforseveralyearswithouta

    teacher.AtofseventeenyoungDennisenrolledatGaskellsBusinessCollege,Manchester,N.H.,a

    fellowstudentofA.N.Palmer.Hiscourseatthisschoolcompleted,Mr.Dennisbecameanitinerantwriting

    teacherandlatertookupengrossingundertheinstructionofA.R.Dunton.

    Mr.DennistaughtinWrightsCollege,Brooklyn,N.Y.,forseveralyearsandalsoforaperiodatPierceSchool,

    Philadelphia,followingwhichhetookuptheworkofpenartistandengrosserandwasknownbestforthe

    artisticengrossingofresolutions,etc.Thathisworkhadahighstandingisevidencedbytheimportant

    commissionsforresolutionsputinhiscare.

    In1914Mr.Denniscollectedspecimensofhisbestworkandthesewerlishedinbookformwithspecial

    instructionspreparedbyMr.Dennis,underthetitleStudiesinPenArt.
