世界粮食日是世界各国政府每年在10月16日围绕发展粮食和农业生产举行纪念活动的日子。世界发展至今，仍有大约1/6的人口面临着饥饿的困扰。实现全人类的温饱，需要各方的共同努力。

16thOctoberhasbeendeclaredasWorldFoodDay(WFD)whichiscelebratedinremembranceofthelaunching(开始)oftheFoodandAgricultureOrganization(FAO)oftheUnitedNationsin1945.

TheoriginsofWorldFoodDay

InNovember1979,WorldFoodDaywaslaunchedbyFAO’smembercountriesonits20thGeneralConference,comingupwiththeideaofcelebratingWFDacrosstheworld.Sincethenthisdayhasbeencelebratedeveryyearinmorethan150countries,raisingawarenessoftheissuesbehindpovertyandhunger.

WorldFoodDayhasdisseminated(传播)differentthemeseveryyear,inordertomentionareasinwhichactionneedstobetakenandprovideafocus,since1981.

Theactualsituation?

Therearenowabout1.02billionmalnourished(营养不良的)individualsacrosstheworld,andalmostonesixthoftheentirehumanraceissufferingfromhunger.

Despitethesignificanceofagricultureasthemajorfactorintheeconomiesofmanydevelopingcountries,thisimportantareaisoftenstarvedofinvestment.Inparticular,foreignaidtoagriculturehasshownaveryseriousdeclineoverthepast20years.

Atatimewhenthenewsisfloodedwithglobaleconomiccrisis,noteveryoneisprivilegedtoworkinofficesandfactories.Thesmallfarmsandruralareasoftheworldarethemostbadlyhitbythiscrisisandahugepercentageofhungrypeopleliveandworkthere.

Povertyandhungerarecloselyrelated.AndarecentreportfromtheFoodandAgricultureOrganizationshowsthattherearemorethan1billionpeoplearoundtheworldwhosufferfromhungereveryday.

Perhapstheapproachthatcanbesthelpfighthungeriseducatingparentsandsocietyaboutresponsibleparenting.Andthisisveryurgent.
