Good morning, my teachers, nice to meet you here! It’s my great honor to stand here to share my teaching ideas with you. Today I am going to talk about the first period in Section A of Unit 1 Can you play the guitar, which is taken from Go for it, Book 2. My presentation consists of five parts: analysis of the teaching material, analysis of the students,teaching methods, guide of studying ways and teaching procedures.
I. Analysis of the teaching material
Status and function
The topic of this unit is about personal abilities and clubs. The fi rst period serves as an introduction and a lead-in part. They will l earn to talk about what they can do and what club thy what to join. T he materials in talking are mostly from the real life and are familia r to students, so they are very interested in it. A series of questi ons and a big picture are used to attracts students’ attention. And listening and pairwork are also used in this period.
Teaching aims and demands
Knowledge Objects
Ss have already mastered the new words and phrases, so in this lesson, they should use the verbs of activity such as sing, dance, swim ... and verb phrases expressing abilities.
Ability Objects
In this lesson, I’ll mainly train the Ss listening and speaking abil ities and develop the Ss’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.
Moral Objects
From this lesson, Let students experience the fun of learning English through practice, and have the courage to show their talents,.Talk a bout each others specialties and hobbies through group activities . Guide students to communicate with others, learn from each other and help each other, then develop team spirit.
keys and difficulties
According to the teaching aims, I think the focus of this lesson isn t to teach the new expressions but to help the Ss to communicate wi th each other. The difficulty is to help the Ss make conversations f reely using the target language.
