A 1 OF 3 Replacing the 2998 Flow Cell When to Replace • An optional flow cell is needed for your application • The lamp LED is on, but the lamp diagnostic test fails due to a reduction in energy caused by the flow cell • Solarization or a discolored lens results in a loss of energy • High backpressure is observed • The flow cell leaks • The reference spectrum changes Parts Required These flow cells are available for the 2998: • 2998 Analytical Cell, #205000399 • 2998 Microbore (3mm) Cell, #205000400 • 2998 Semi-Prep (3mm) Cell, #205000401 • 2998 Autopurification Cell, #205000402 Tools Required • Flat-blade screwdriver, WAT272058 • 5/16-inch open-end wrench Removing the Flow Cell Assembly 1. Turn the detector off and disconnect the power cord. 2. Lift up the detector front cover and pull it from the chassis. 3. Remove the left front cover. 4. Using the 5/16-inch open end wrench, disconnect the solvent lines from the front of the detector. If the optional auto-purification flow cell is being removed, disconnect these three fittings: inlet analytical, inlet prep, and outlet. Replacing the 2998 Flow Cell REV. A 2 OF 3 5.
