Ask Ss what they will do when they hear the sound. Look and read on Page 56 Play the recording: Look and read. Ss listen and follow in their books. Play the recording again. Students listen and repeat. Ask students to do the soft reading. While-task procedure Read, think and match on Page 56 Use the four pictures in Look and read (in the classroom, at home, on the road and in the park) to ask Ss to think about what rules we have in each place. Ss take turns to read the eight rules on the picture and match. They say whether the rules are for the classroom, the home, the road or the park. Then Ss write the corresponding letters, A, B, C, or D in the box next to each rule on Page 56. Look and say Use to tell Ss Don ’t …= We/You must not …. Ss do some oral practice of this. First teacher gives the verb phrases of the signs. Let Ss practice Don’t or We/You must not… Then without the verb phrases, teacher asks Ss: What does this sign mean? Ss answer questions. Look and match on Page 57 Ss. take turns to tell what they think the sign means. Then they read the sentences aloud. They match the signs to the sentences, and write the number of the sign in the box at the end of each sentence. Invite different Ss to report back to the rest of the class.
