Its plot mainline is the love and marriage between Elizabeth and Darcy. There are four marriages have been described in the whole novel: Elizabeth and Darcy, Jane and Bingley, This paper includes three parts, the introduction, the main body and the conclusion. The first part is introduction and it sketches the background of the author Jane Austen and this novel. The second part includes four chapters. The four chapters mainly describes each character’s view on marriage in the four marriage from binary approach. The last part is conclusion which summarizes and reiterates the view put forwarded in the paper. Key words :Views on marriage ; binary approach ; the background of characters 1. Introduction 1.1 The Background of Jane Austen Jane Austen was born in 1775 and died in 1817. She was born in a country priest family located in north England. She was a preeminent writer who has unexceptionable style of writing. “Austen did not receive any formal school education” (Pang Xiaopeng 1). But she had a good family education, the primary textbook was her father’s literature book collection. Austen favored to reading popular novels which were regarded as a vulgar pastime at that time. Her works during girlhood was the parody of those popular novels. That also endowed her works mocking keynote.
