语法点 Grammar points 1. 因为……所以…… Because…So… “因为……所以……”在句中连接具有因果关系的两个子句，前句表原因， 后句表结果。 The pattern of ‘Yīnwèi…, suǒyǐ… ’ indicates cause and effect in the sentence, in which the former one is equivalent to ‘because’ in English and followed by the cause, while the latter one is ‘so’ and followed by the result accordingly. 比如： For example: Yīnwèi zhè tiáo qúnzi hěn guì , suǒyǐ wǒ méi mǎi. 因为这条裙子很贵，所以我没买。 Because this dress was expensive, I didn’t buy it. Yīnwèi wǒ xiǎng qù Zhōngguó lǚxíng, suǒyǐ wǒ nǔlì xué hànyǔ. 因为我想去中国旅行，所以我努力学汉语。 Because I want to travel to China, I study Chinese hard. 2. 要是……就…… If…Then… “要是……就……”在句中表示假设，多用于口语，与“如果……就……” 的形式和用法基本一致。 Basically identical with ‘rúguǒ…, jiù …’ in usage and formality, ‘Yàoshì..., jiù...’is generally used to express an assumption and things may happen according to it and it is more informal and common than ‘‘rúguǒ’ in oral Chinese. 比如： For example: Yàoshì nǐ zài xuéxiào, wǒmen jiù néng yìqǐ chī wǔfàn le. 要是你在学校，我们就能一起去吃午饭了。 If you were at school, we would be able to have lunch together. Yàoshì wǒ méi lái Zhōngguó, wǒ bú huì xuéxí Zhōngguó shūfǎ. 要是我没来中国，我不会学习中国书法。 If I hadn’t come to China, I wouldn’t have learnt Chinese calligraphy. 主语也可放在“要是”的前面，在这种情况下，“要是”可以省略为“要”。 In this pattern, the subject can be placed before ‘yàoshì’.
