Bacteria and fungi are the two dominant microorganism groups in bio filters. The degrading ability to hydrophobic organic compound and adaptability to acid anddry conditions of fungi are higher than those of bac teria. In this e perimental research, a biofilter was used to treat a waste gas with ethyl mercaptan ( EM) . The microorganisms attached to the media in the biofilter were isolated and identified. The results show edthat identified microorganisms are Penicilliumf requentans , Paecilomyces variotii , A spergillus wentii and Cep halosp orium acremonium .
