An arterial puncture needle is advanced in an angle of 30-45 degrees towards the artery. Once a free flow of blood splashes out ,a wire guide is inserted through the needle.The needle is removed over the wire and the artery compressed with the fingers .The catheter is then inserted the artery over the wire guide with a single rotary motion . When the catheter is in the desired position ,the wire guide is removed and the catheter is injected with available iodinated radiographic contrast media . *
