24 2015 1 中原文物 年第 期 * 华北地区磨制石器制作工艺考察 翟少冬 ( ， 1007 10) 中国社会科学院考古研究所 北京 Abstract :This paper investigated the techniques for producing the ground stone tools in Northern China ， and compared with the techniques for producing the knapped stone tools. It proposed that the techniques for making ground stone tools were simpler to be operated although the production procedure was more complex than that of the knapped stone tools. Moreover ，the types of the raw material for the ground stone tools were various. The process of the ground stone tools taking place the knapped stone tools and becoming the main pro- duction tools during the Neolithic period coincideed with that of the agriculture origin and sedentism develop- ment in Northern China ，showing that the production techniques for ground stone tools might adapt to the de- mand due to the social development in Northern China ，therefore ，with the agriculture and sedentism develop- ment ，the ground stone tools gradually took place of the knapped stone tools and became the primary produc- tion stone tools during the Neolithic period.
