This lesson is closely related to students’ daily lives. In this unit, we will talk about pandas. It’s quite easy to arouse students’ interests in communicating In the process of learning, students are encouraged to describe pandas ‘ living habit. Students are expected to learn the key words and target language learnt in the unit and to improve their listening and speaking ability. Analysis of the students: Students in Grade8 are interested in funny and cute things. So they must be interested in the topic of this unit. And they are more knowledgeable. They are looking forward to expressing things around them more in English..What’s more, they have a strong will to help others with the help of their English. So as an English teacher , I should provide more chances for students to practice English in the real life and teach them some uesful studying methods to help them to be successful language learners. But it is difficult for them to remember all the superlative forms of the adjectives and adverbs. I should provide more exercises. Teaching aims: Knowledge Objectives: 1) Students can read and use new words and phrases: storm, report, area, wind, light, wood, window, flashlight, match, beat, heavily, against, asleep, fall asleep, die down, rise, apart. 2) Students will be able to ask and answer the questions like: What was the neighborhood like after the storm? What were people doing when the rainstorm came? 3) Students can understand how to use “when” and “while”. Ability Objectives: 1)To develop students’ abilities of reading and speaking. 2)To train students’ ability of working in groups. 3)To cultivate students’ ability of telling a story.
