Corresponding author : GAO Xing-jun, E-mail: gxj7976 @ 126. com) Abstract: With the aid of the vibration drilling table, experiments were carried out on high temperature alloy and carbon steel under different parameters by using normal tw ist drill and helical drill, respectively. The differences of breaking chip effect betw een the vibration cutting and the normal drilling of helical drill w ere studied. The axial drilling force and the torque of vibration drilling were experimentally and theoretically studied. Effects of the use of normal tw ist drill and helical drill on the machining process w ere theoretically discussed. T he results show ed that, compared to ordinary drilling, vibration drilling is favorable for chip breaking, small chip and easy chip removal. The vibration drilling force and torque by using the complex helical drill are much smaller than that by normal tw ist drill and the change of the drilling force is relatively steady.
